Flour Tortilla Recipe
Ingredients:
- 4 Cups flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 2/3 Cup shortening
- 1 Cup plus 3 Tablespoons hot water
In a mixing bowl, add in flour, salt and baking powder. Add
shortening and blend together until shortening is worked into dough,
it will look crumbly. Add in hot water while blending. Continue to
mix until dough forms into a ball.
Separate dough into small balls. Warm up a skillet or griddle.
Dust counter or pastry board with flour. Roll a small ball into a
circle.
Add to a hot pan, you don't need to oil or butter the pan. Fry both
sides until brown.
Continue with remaining balls of dough. Frying and setting aside.
Flour tortillas freeze well so you can make large batches and
freeze for future use, if you'd like to.
